Look for temperatures to cool off a bit today (upper 70s) as an upper level trough of low pressure and a weak surface front bring some more clouds and marine air our way. You can see the trough of Low Pressure , the “u” shape north of Washington, that will increase the southwesterly flow of cooler moist air that will cool us back into the 70s today. That helps push the weak cold front through. Behind the front it will warm back up to normal temperatures for the Willamette Valley in the low to mid 80s by Wednesday, warmer 90 to low 90s in the Umpqua Basin. The coast will see low clouds or fog late night and early morning with a slight chance of sprinkles today with highs in the mid 60s.

Don’t  forget my weekly weather quiz. Here’s this week’s question.

In the 1996 movie “Twister” a device called “Dorothy” was used to study how tornadoes function. There was a real device used in early tornado research. What was it called? Please put your answer in the comments section. You have until the end of the week to respond. The winner will receive a week of free personalized forecasts. Good luck.
