The good news is that a high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape)  is moving in bringing us sunshine and much warmer temperatures for the long holiday weekend. A weak disturbance Saturday night and Sunday will bring clouds and no precipitation to Oregon, but that will cool down the temperatures more than I originally thought. More sunshine and warmer for the 4th.

An upper level low (“U” shape) has been sitting over us sending some moisture our way. That’s the bad news. The good news is that a high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape)  is moving in bringing us sunshine and much warmer temperatures for the long holiday weekend. A weak disturbance over the weekend will only bring a few more clouds and no precipitation.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “fulgerite?” Here is Karl’s correct answer. “Fulgerite is a form of glass created when hot lightning (1800 degrees C or hotter) hits sand; the grains of quartz melt together and cool into a tube-shaped piece of fulgerite.” A record-large piece of fulgerite was found some years ago in Michigan that measured 15 feet in length and had a white-green-gray color. All Karl has to do is mail m at the address listed in my contacts section an we can discuss how h will us his week of personalized forecasts. I’ll have another weekly weather question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) moved away from the Pacific Northwest and a trough of low pressure (“U” shape) slid in behind it sending some serious moisture our way. A cold front pushed through Oregon bringing back our chances of getting wet. The upper level low will move across the Pacific Northwest allowing a high pressure ridge to clear us out and warm us up just in time for the long holiday weekend.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) is moving over the Pacific Northwest and a trough of low pressure (“U” shape) will move in behind it and start sending some serious moisture our way. A cold front is headed for Oregon and will bring back our chances of getting wet. Another frontal system will move in mid week.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) is moving over the Pacific Northwest and a trough of low pressure (“U” shape) will move in behind it. The skies will brighten and warm the temperatures for the rest of the weekend. A couple of cold fronts move into the area early next week, along with that upper low, returning the clouds, cooler temperatures, and the chance of precipitation.
