I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. An upper level high pressure ridge  (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) continues to move eastward and behind it is a strong trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) that will keep us in turbulent weather for a while. A cold front has already moved into the Pacific bringing plenty of rain with it.  Another stronger frontal system (shown to the northwest over the ocean) will drop down through Oregon between Friday night and Saturday adding even more moisture.

An upper level high pressure ridge  (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) continues to move eastward and will increase the moisture flow across the Pacific Northwest. A stationary front is straddling north of Oregon. It moved northward as a warm front and that means a warm day today, possibly even a record high this afternoon. The rain will return by late tonight. What looks like another frontal system should be approaching the coast by next Sunday.
