_______________

Upper level low pressure (“U” shape offshore) is sliding slowly into Oregon.  A frontal system is moving through the Pacific Northwest bringing with it more rain and possible thunderstorms. A new frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest this week (position shown is Friday) increasing the precipitation chances once again and the wet weather will continue through most of the week. There will still be some sun breaks even on the rainy days ahead. Still cooler than normal, but there is hope in the computer models that we’ll dry out and see increased sunshine over the weekend. It’s still too early to be certain of that yet.

Upper level low pressure (“U” shape offshore) is sliding slowly toward Oregon. Looks like the wettest day of this Memorial Day Holiday weekend was  yesterday with lesser chances today (because of weak high pressure) and at least part of Monday. There will still be sun breaks on the rainy days. A new frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest Monday (position shown is Tuesday) increasing the precipitation chances once again and the wet weather will continue through most of next week.

Sorry, but no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is syzygy? Here is the answer. Syzygy occurs twice a month when the sun and moon are lined up, either with the new or full moon. In both cases, the gravitational effects of these astronomical bodies reinforce each other and the range between high and low tides increases. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you next week. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

_______________

_______________

Upper level low pressure (“U” shape offshore) is sliding slowly across Oregon. A frontal system has brought better chances for rain through today due to the upper level low moving across Oregon. Looks like the wettest day of this Memorial Day Holiday weekend will be today with lesser chances Sunday (because of weak high pressure) and at least part of Monday. There will still be sun breaks on the rainy days. A new frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest Monday (position shown is Tuesday) increasing the precipitation chances once again and the wet weather will continue through most of next week.
