Joan T. is the first person to correctly answer the question this week. Here again is what she said. The first person to explain rainbows was an unnamed German monk in the 14th century. He demonstrated this by shining sunlight through a glass sphere filled with water.
We see a rainbow when the angle between the sun, water droplets and us is between 40 and 42 degrees – which is why, when you see a rainbow in the spray from a garden hose, the rainbow appears to move as you move either the direction of the spray or yourself. Congratulations Joan.

I did find the monk’s name. It was Theodoric, but your answer was correct. Joan will get a week’s free forecasting tailored to her particular needs. A new quiz will start on Monday.
