Sorry, nobody correctly answered this week’s weather quiz question. In the U.S. how many states are members of the “60 Below Club”? That means they recorded all-time low temperatures at -60 degrees F. or less. Here is the answer. The number is “8” states. They are Alaska (-80), Colorado (-61), Idaho (-60), Minnesota (-60), Montana (-70), North Dakota (-60), Utah     (-69) , and Wyoming (-66). Another weather quiz will start next Monday. The first person to correctly answer the question will win one free week of personalized forecasts tailored to their needs.

High pressure is pushing in from the west and that also pushes the recent storm system to the east. High pressure will also set up an inversion, warm air over cold air, to produce late night and early morning fog.

Saturday with start off with clouds and fog and a slight chance of light rain, then a mix of clouds and sun high 47, mostly cloudy with patchy fog at night low 32 . Patchy AM fog then clouds and sun again Sunday high 47 , partly cloudy in the evening and mostly cloudy at night  low 34 . Monday after AM fog mostly cloudy with some lingering afternoon fog high 45, then mostly cloudy at night low 36. A  mix of clouds and sun Tuesday after morning clouds high 50 partly cloudy at night low 35. There will be a mix of clouds and sun Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday highs near 50 lows in the mid 30s. For the Umpqua Basin and the coast conditions will be about five (5) degrees warmer for the daytime highs.

For the Cascades: There will be a slight chance of snow flurries overnight tonight with a snow level at 3,500′. The snow level will be at 3,000′ Saturday morning rising to 3,500′ in the afternoon. The free air freezing level will rise to 5,500′ Saturday night, 8,000′ Sunday, and 9,000′ Sunday night. Monday night through Tuesday the snow level of 5,500′ then back to a free air freezing level of 6,000′ Tuesday night.  Wednesday through Friday the free air freezing level will remain above pass levels from 5,500′ to 7,000′.
