Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the “Aleutian Low?” Here is the correct answer. The Aleutian Low is a semi-permanent, subpolar area of low pressure located in the Gulf of Alaska near the Aleutian Islands. It is a generating area for storms and migratory lows often reach maximum instensity in this area. It is most active during the late fall to late spring. During the summer, it is weaker, retreating towards the North Pole and becoming almost nonexistent. During this time, the North Pacific High pressure system dominates. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer at the bottom of this page. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.
