Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is a “Super Cell Thunderstorm “?

____________

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) will dry us out for a while. The graphics for days 1-3 show the cold front that pushed through Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show complex frontal system moving northeastward through the Pacific Northwest between Sunday. A complex frontal system will be approaching the coast Wednesday and next Thursday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Friday, November 1, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season. The season is typically scheduled to start on October 1st each year. However, the decision to delay has been jointly made by the Lane County Fire Defense Board and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “Sublimation”? Sublimation is the transition of a substance from the solid phase directly to the vapor phase, or vice versa, without passing through an intermediate liquid phase. Thus an ice crystal or icicle sublimes under low relative humidity at temperatures below 0°C. The process is analogous to evaporation of a liquid.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is enhancing frontal movement. The graphics for days 1-3 show a cold front pushing through Sunday. The graphics for days 3-7   Wednesday through Sunday show complex frontal system moving northeastward through the Pacific Northwest Thursday and Friday. Another front will be just offshore Saturday then pushing inland next Sunday.
