Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is the “Statosphere”?

____________

Upper Level High Pressure   (“Arch” shape)is being pushed aside by Upper level Low Pressure (“U” shape) which means rain chances return. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system moving through overnight and today. The graphics for days 3-7   Saturday through Wednesday show a complex frontal system sliding through Tuesday and next Wednesday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season. The season is typically scheduled to start on October 1 each year. However, the decision to delay has been jointly made by the Lane County Fire Defense Board and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Storm Surge?” Here is the correct answer.  A Storm Surge is an abnormal rise in sea level accompanying a hurricane or other intense storm, whose height is the difference between the observed level of the sea surface and the level that would have occurred in the absence of the cyclone. Storm surge is usually estimated by subtracting the normal or astronomic tide from the observed storm tide.

An Upper Level High Pressure   is still in charge of our weather pattern, but cold fronts still manage to break through, The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system offshore  Monday. The graphics for days 3-7   Tuesday through Saturday show frontal activity moving in next Tuesday through Thursday. A warm front slides in next Saturday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season. However, the decision to delay has been jointly made by the Lane County Fire Defense Board and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).

Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is a “Storm Surge?”

____________

An Upper Level High Pressure   is still in charge of our weather pattern, but cold fronts still manage to break through, The graphics for days 1-3 show a cold front pushing over the top of the high pressure ridge and moving through Oregon Friday.  The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show a  cold front will be moving in next Wednesday and Thursday.
