Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Rip Current?” Here is the correct answer. A Rip Current is a relatively small-scale surf-zone current moving away from the beach. Rip currents form as waves disperse along the beach causing water to become trapped between the beach and a sandbar or other underwater feature. The water converges into a narrow, river-like channel moving away from the shore at high speed.

____________

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape ) is moving away from us as weak High Pressure tries to replace it. The graphics for days 1-3  show no frontal  systems that moving into or through Oregon, but a cold front will be to our northwest Sunday. The graphics for days 3-7     Tuesday through Saturday show a cold front that will push into the Pacific Northwest Tuesday and then no frontal activity.

Note: The weather looks pretty good for Sunday and the Memorial Day Holiday itself.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape ) is moving away from us as weak High Pressure tries to replace it. The graphics for days 1-3  show the frontal  system that moved through Oregon Wednesday. The graphics for days 3-7     Sunday through Thursday show a cold front that will push into the Pacific Northwest between Tuesday and next Wednesday.
Note: The weather looks pretty good for the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The only chance of a little rain seems to be Friday night and during the day Saturday. That means Sunday and Memorial Day should be bright and dry.

Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. “What is a “Rip Current?

____________

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape ) is approaching the West Coast bringing unsettled weather. The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal  system moving into Oregon Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7   Thursday through Monday show a cold front that will push into the Pacific Northwest Friday and Friday night. A complex frontal system will be well to our Northwest next Monday.
