Here is my new weekly weather quiz question “What is a “Rear Flank Downdraft?

____________

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) brought the Pacific Northwest a small chance of rain. Now it’s time for dry weather and sunshine.  The graphics for days 1-3  show the cold front that moved through Oregon Saturday for cooling and a few showers. The next front is on the way. The graphics for days 3-7  Thursday through Monday show a frontal system that moved across the Pacific Northwest Wednesday.  Another frontal system will weaken and push in Friday, then a complex frontal system will be offshore headed our way next Saturday.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Rain Induced Fog?” Here is the correct answer.  Rain Induced Fog is when warm rain falls through cooler air, water evaporates from the warm rain. It subsequently condenses in the cool air forming fog. Such fog can be quite dense. It generally will persist as long as the rain continues. Since temperature rises little during the day, there is little diurnal variation in rain induced fog. Improvement in visibility cannot be expected until the rain stops or moves out of the affected area.

The graphics for days 3-7  Wednesday through Sunday show a frontal system that moves across the Pacific Northwest between by Wednesday.  Another frontal system will weaken and push in Friday, then a complex frontal system will be offshore headed our way next Saturday.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question. “What is a “Rain Induced Fog?

____________

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge  brought the Pacific Northwest sunshine, but change is coming.  The graphics for days 1-3  show a cold front moving through Oregon Saturday for cooling and possible showers. The graphics for days 3-7  Monday through Friday show a frontal system that moves across the Pacific Northwest between Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Another complex frontal system will push in Friday.
