An upper level ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows)  will continue the sunshine and dry weather for one more day, today. Expect temperatures rising from the 70s to near 80 which puts us 10 degrees or more above normal.  However, Tuesday an upper level low (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows on previous graphic) and a cold front (position shown is past us on Wednesday) will approach the coast Tuesday and bring back much cooler temperatures and the slight chance of rain.

No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Geosynchronous Satellite?” Here is the correct answer. Geosynchronous is the term applied to any equatorial satellite with an orbital velocity equal to the rotational velocity of the earth. The net effect is that the satellite is virtually motionless with respect to an observer on the ground. I’ll have a new weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows)  is strengthening and increasing the sunshine and dry weather. Expect temperatures rising from the low 70s to near 80 which puts us 10 degrees or more above normal.  However, next week a cold front will approach the coast Tuesday and bring back the chance of rain.
