A strong upper level trough of low pressure is sending another frontal system through Oregon. The result is clouds with an increasing chance of rain. More frontal activity Sunday through Monday will continue the rainy weather pattern. Not enough snow for Hoodoo or Willamette Pass Ski to open, but there has been enough for Mt. Ashland to announce they are opening for business today.

No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “ wind shear?” Here is the correct answer.Wind Shear is the rate at which wind velocity changes from point to point in a given direction (as, vertically). The shear can be speed shear (where speed changes between the two points, but not direction), direction shear (where direction changes between the two points, but not speed) or a combination of the two.  I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.
