Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is “Sublimation”?

____________

The Jet Stream Winds help push fronts our way. The graphics for days 1-3 show a cold frontal system moving into Oregon today and Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7   Thursday through Monday show a complex frontal system sliding through Sunday and next Monday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Friday, November 1, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season. The season is typically scheduled to start on October 1st each year. However, the decision to delay has been jointly made by the Lane County Fire Defense Board and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the “Statosphere”? Here is the correct answer. The Stratosphere is the region of the atmosphere extending from the top of the troposphere to the base of the mesosphere, an important area for monitoring stratospheric ozone. Stratospheric Ozone In the stratosphere, ozone has beneficial properties where it forms an ozone shield that prevents dangerous radiation from reaching the Earth’s surface. Recently, it was discovered that in certain parts of the world, especially over the poles, stratospheric ozone was disappearing creating an ozone hole.

The graphics for days 3-7   Saturday through Wednesday show a complex frontal system sliding through Tuesday and next Wednesday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Friday, November 1, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season.
