A trough of low pressure (See “U” shape offshore) is setting up over the Pacific Ocean and will stay offshore keeping in a cool moist airflow for quite some time. A series of waves will push through the trough generating rain. A frontal system (shown still offshore) will be approaching the Pacific Northwest between Friday and Saturday bringing increased chances for rain. Remember, the Autumnal Equinox occurs next Wednesday at 8:09 PM beginning the Fall season and the full Harvest moon reveals itself in the early morning hours of Thursday September 23rd.
