Sorry, but no winner this week for my weekly weather quiz question.

________________

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. We all know that lightning is dangerous, but there is one direct beneficial aspect to lightning. What is it? Here is the correct answer. Lightning helps plants. The air in our atmosphere is about 78% nitrogen, but it is in a form that plants cannot use. Lightning helps dissolve the nitrogen into the water to create a natural fertilizer so plants can absorb it through their roots. Lightning also produces ozone, a gas that helps protect the Earth from the dangerous rays of the sun and lightning helps to maintain the electrical balance of the Earth. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

It’s time for my new weekly weather quiz question. We all know that lightning is dangerous, but there is one direct beneficial aspect to lightning. What is it? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

_______________

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the yellow line) gave us sunshine and warmer temperatures. There will be a cool down for the next day or two due to a weakening frontal system that’s on its way toward us and an upper level trough of low pressure (“U” shape on yellow line) behind the ridge. Then it’s back to sunny and warmer again as high pressure returns. Next weekend looks like it could be even warmer than it was on Monday.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the yellow line) gave us more sunshine and warmer temperatures today. There will be a cool down Tuesday due to a weakening frontal system that’s still offshore and an upper level trough of low pressure (“U” shape on yellow line) behind the ridge.  Then it’s back to sunny and warmer again but not as warm as it was today.
