Advisories: There is a Blue-Green Algae warning that continues for Dexter Reservoir and Dorena Reservoir has just been added to the list. Water monitoring has confirmed the presence of blue-green algae that can produce toxins, state public health officials said. The algae levels are likely associated with dangerous cyanotoxin concentrations in the water that can be harmful to humans and animals. Swallowing or inhaling water droplets, as well as skin contact with water, should be avoided according to the authorities.

An upper level high pressure ridge  (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) has covered the Pacific Northwest for a while giving us offshore airflow which has kept us heated up. An upper level low (“U” shape with blue arrows) is sliding down from the Gulf of Alaska. By Saturday it will push over the ridge, then move to the northeast. A weak cold front (position shown is Monday well past us) will slowly move down from the northwest Saturday and that will mean temperatures will be cooling to the more comfortable mid to low 80s as the front slowly moves across Oregon. The slow cooling will make it more comfortable for fair goers at the Lane County Fair that continues through Sunday and the Relay For Life that began this evening and continues through Saturday evening at Willamette High School.

Advisories: There is a Blue-Green Algae warning that continues for Dexter Reservoir. Note: Sorry about an error that I published reporting that the warning was also for Odell Lake. It was outdated information. Sorry for the confusion.

An upper level high pressure ridge  (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) still covers the Pacific Northwest. It’s called a “Rex” block because of the way it blocks storms from coming through it. That means more sunshine but temperatures will start to cool off a bit. An upper level low (shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) will slide down from the Gulf of Alaska and a cold front will slowly move down from the northwest between Thursday and Friday and that will mean temperatures cooling to the more comfortable mid to low 80s as the front slowly moves across Oregon.

An upper level high pressure ridge  (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) will cover the Pacific Northwest for the next few days. That means more sunshine and warm temperatures. About half of the country has be very hot, but they are cooing down now as we warm up to near the 90 degree mark and then drop back down a bit.  An upper level low (shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) will slide down from the Gulf of Alaska and a cold front will sweep down from the northwest between Thursday and Friday and that will mean temperatures cooling to the more comfortable mid 80s as the front slowly moves across Oregon.
