Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time, since there was no winner this week. Define the term “Free Air Freezing Level.” FREE AIR FREEZING LEVEL is the general level in the atmosphere where temperatures drop below freezing. “Free Air” is used to make a distinction between the true freezing level in the mixed atmosphere as opposed to localized pockets of subfreezing air which collect in valley bottoms under an inversion during fall and winter nights (and even in summertime in high elevation complex terrain). Here is the correct answer. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is offshore cleared the skies for a shorter amount of time than I expected. The rain returned, at least at my house, around 2:30 PM. A frontal system is on its way to the Pacific Northwest. It will cross the state tonight,  It looks like another frontal system will bring us better chances of rain again by Wednesday.

The Jet Stream airflow (Shaded area with blue arrows) has shifted away from the “Pineapple Express” and is bringing cooler air in from the northwest. A frontal system has moved through bringing more rain and it kicked up the winds again. It will be followed by yet another fast moving frontal system late tonight and Thursday.
