An upper air ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) that has been sitting over us will slowly weaken and move eastward allowing a frontal system to bring clouds and a chance for showers. An upper level low pressure trough (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) moves in pushing increasingly stronger frontal systems, like this one, through the Pacific Northwest. Note: Mt. Ashland is open Thursdays through Mondays. Willamette Pass and Hoodoo are all still closed for now. They say they will be opening again when enough snow falls. Check their websites for conditions and specific schedules.

No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is  “bathymetry?” His the correct answer. Bathymetry is the science of measuring depths of the oceans, lakes, seas, etc. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper air ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is siting over us and strengthening again returning the sunshine again through the weekend into next week. We sure could use some rain, but the next chance won’t be until next Wednesday night. Note: Mt. Ashland is open Thursdays through Mondays. Willamette Pass and Hoodoo are all still closed for now. They say they will be opening again when enough snow falls. Check their websites for conditions and specific schedules.

An upper air ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is siting over us and weakened a bit allowing a weak cold front to move in bringing more clouds and a few sprinkles mainly along the coast early Wednesday morning. Another weak storm will move in today bringing a slight chance of showers tonight. Note: Mt. Ashland is open Thursdays through Mondays. Willamette Pass and Hoodoo are all still closed for now. They say they will be opening again when enough snow falls. Check their websites for conditions and specific schedules.
