Upper Level High Pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is still in control producing sinking air the result of which is late night and early AM fog with freezing fog in many locations. The graphics for days 3-7 show that high pressure will extend right down to the surface keeping us out dry through Thursday, then frontal systems start moving in as high pressure relinquishes its hold on us.

Note: The overnight air quality in Eugene/Springfield and Oakridge has become bad enough for a Red Home Wood Heating Advisory to be issued and continued for another day.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “Coalescence?” Here is the correct answer. Coalescence is the process by which water droplets in a cloud collide and come together to form raindrops. I’ll have a new weekly weather question starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

Upper Level High Pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) has taken over producing sinking air the result of which is late night and early AM fog with freezing fog in many locations. The graphics for days 3-7 show that high pressure will extend right down to the surface keeping us out dry through next Saturday.

Note: The overnight air quality in Oakridge has become bad enough for a Red Home Wood Heating Advisory to be issued and continued for another day.
