Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What are “Iridescent Clouds? Here is the correct answer. Iridescent Clouds are clouds that exhibit brilliant bright spots, bands, or borders of colors, usually red and green, observed up to about 30 degrees from the sun. The coloration is due to the diffraction with small cloud particles producing the effect. It is usually seen in thin cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, and altocumulus clouds.

The Upper Level Airflow is sending moisture west to east straight into the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show the next frontal system headed our way today and Monday.  The graphics for days 3-7 show more complex frontal systems moving our way Wednesday through next Sunday giving us more chances of getting wet.

NOTE: Daylight Saving Time officially begins a 2 am today, so if you forgot to turn your clock ahead one hour (Spring Forward) you can do it now. The authorities also remind you to check your Smoke Detector, Carbon Monoxide Detector, and Radon detector to make sure they are working properly. Replace batteries if necessary. As the old saying goes “It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
