Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Rocketsonde?” Here is the correct answer. A Rocketsonde is type of radiosonde that is shot into the atmosphere by a rocket, allowing it to collect data during its parachute descent from a higher position in the atmosphere than a balloon could reach. Radiosondes are launched into the sky by helium weather balloons.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape ) is weakening and will allow fronts to start moving into Oregon. The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal system bringing rain to the Pacific Northwest today. The graphics for days 3-7    Wednesday through Sunday show a cold front that will be moving through Oregon Wednesday and another front to our northwest Saturday then pushing through the Pacific Northwest next Sunday.
