Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is “Sublimation”?

____________

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) over the Eastern Pacific will keep temperatures down and enhance the rain chances. The graphics for days 1-3 show a cold frontal system that moved through Oregon Wednesday. The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show a complex frontal system sliding through Sunday night and Monday. Another front presents itself next Thursday.

Note: Lane County residents will have to wait until Friday, November 1, 2024, at the earliest for the opening of the fall outdoor burning season. The season is typically scheduled to start on October 1st each year. However, the decision to delay has been jointly made by the Lane County Fire Defense Board and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the “Statosphere”? Here is the correct answer. The Stratosphere is the region of the atmosphere extending from the top of the troposphere to the base of the mesosphere, an important area for monitoring stratospheric ozone. Stratospheric Ozone In the stratosphere, ozone has beneficial properties where it forms an ozone shield that prevents dangerous radiation from reaching the Earth’s surface. Recently, it was discovered that in certain parts of the world, especially over the poles, stratospheric ozone was disappearing creating an ozone hole.
