Here is my weekly weather quiz question. In aviation what does “MVFR” mean?

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) keeps our weather pattern stable with a bit above normal temperatures. Upper level High Pressure takes over for serious heating starting Saturday. The graphics for days 1-3  show a cold front moving into the Pacific Northwest today for cooling, but it won’t be a rain producer and it won’t last long. The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show a frontal system to our north all of next week but it won’t be moving into the Pacific Northwest.

A Mountainado is a vertical-axis eddy produced in a downslope windstorm by the vertical stretching of horizontal roll vortices produced near the ground by vertical wind shear. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Mountainado? ” Here is the correct answer. A Mountainado is a vertical-axis eddy produced in a downslope windstorm by the vertical stretching of horizontal roll vortices produced near the ground by vertical wind shear.
