Here is my weekly weather quiz question. Let’s make this one local. What is the coldest temperature ever recorded for Eugene? Your answer should also contain the date on which it occurred. Good luck.

A trough of low pressure (See “U” shape offshore) is moving Eastward away from us. A weak cold front will be moving through Saturday. Weak high pressure will try to take over for a little warming Sunday and Monday, but another low will follow close behind it so don’t look for any dramatic changes in our weather patterns.

A high pressure ridge (See “Arch” shape) is moving away from us while another trough of low pressure (See “U” shape offshore) will replace the ridge and a cold front moved through to cool us down as the cold air drops down from aloft.

Note: With the changing weather pattern we will see a drastic drop in temperatures over the holiday weekend particularly in the foothills and mountains where temperatures will be in the 30s and near freezing in some locations. Be prepared for cold temperatures at night and possible precipitation if you will be camping or engaging in any outdoor activities.
