Upper level high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape) has brought plenty of sunshine back, at least for your workweek, but low pressure (shaded “U” shape) will be dropping down from the Gulf of Alaska. Add that to a cold front (position shown is Sunday) that will sweep more to our north (the strongest part anyway) Saturday and we’ll see just the slight chance of showers back by Saturday night and Sunday.

Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is “radiational cooling?” Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Upper level high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape) will bring plenty of sunshine back, at least for your most of your workweek. Another upper low will bring the slight chance of showers back by Saturday night for the weekend. Today is ”Earth Day.” Celebrate our Earth by doing your best to help clean it up. Whether you believe in “Global Warming” or not doesn’t matter. If we all work together we can at the least make our planet more livable.

No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “orographic lifting?” Here is the correct answer. Orographic Lifting is the same as Upslope Flow. It occurs when air is forced to rise and cool due to terrain features such as hills or mountains. If the cooling is sufficient, water vapor condenses into clouds. Additional cooling results in rain or snow. It can cause extensive cloudiness and increased amounts of precipitation in higher terrain. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Upper level high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape) has brought plenty of sunshine back, at least for your most of your workweek. A trough of low pressure will push the ridge westward a little just enough to increase our clouds a bit. Another upper low will bring the slight chance of showers back by Friday night into the weekend. Tomorrow, Monday April 22nd is  “Earth Day.” Celebrate our Earth by doing your best to help clean it up. Whether you believe in “Global Warming” or not doesn’t matter.
