No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “radiational cooling?” Here is the correct answer. Radiational Cooling is the cooling of the Earth’s surface. At night, the Earth suffers a net heat loss to space due to terrestrial cooling. This is more pronounced when you have a clear sky. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge is giving us more sunshine and warming temperatures because it has shifted the airflow around from the east toward the west (offshore) again. An upper level trough of low pressure will take over early next week adding to a cooling trend and bringing a chance of showers.

Advisories:

  • A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM SUNDAY FOR WIND, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND CRITICALLY DRY FUELS FOR THE CENTRAL OREGON COAST RANGE, THE CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES IN LANE COUNTY, THE CASCADES FOOTHILLS IN LANE COUNTY, THE NORTH OREGON COAST RANGE, THE ENTIRE WILLAMETTE VALLEY, THE NORTH OREGON CASCADES, AND THE NORTH OREGON CASCADE FOOTHILLS. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COASTAL AREAS.
  • A HEALTH ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR THE PRESENCE OF BLUE-GREEN ALGAE FOR WALTERVILLE POND IN LANE COUNTY AND AT DEVILS LAKE IN LINCOLN COUNTY. THE TOXIC ALGAE BLOOM MEANS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE AFFECTED WATER AND THAT ALSO GOES FOR ANY PETS.
