At night, the Earth suffers a net heat loss to space due to terrestrial cooling. This is more pronounced when you have a clear sky. An upper level high pressure ridge is giving us more sunshine and warming temperatures because it has shifted the airflow around from the east toward the west (offshore) again. An upper level trough of low pressure will take over early next week adding to a cooling trend and bringing a chance of showers.
