Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is  “Zero Datum?” Here is the correct answer.  Zero Datum: In hydrologic terms, a reference “zero” elevation for a stream or river gauge. This “zero” can be referenced (usually within ten feet of the bottom of the channel) to mean sea level, or to any other recognized datum.

The Jet Stream is still pushing fronts our way and sending plenty of moisture to the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show a  complex frontal system approaching the coast. The graphics for days 3-7    Wednesday through Sunday show the frontal activity through the period.

The Jet Stream is still pushing fronts our way and sending plenty of moisture to the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system that moved in and the next one in line. The graphics for days 3-7    Saturday through Wednesday show more frontal activity continuing through the period.

Note: Ski Report: Willamette Pass, Hoodoo, and  Mt. Ashland are all open for the ski season. Check their Web sites for specific mountain conditions and hours of operation.
