An  Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape”) will be bringing serious heating into the Pacific Northwest. We could break some record highs. The graphics for days 1-3 show a no frontal systems moving into the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7  Saturday through Wednesday show no frontal systems pushing through the Pacific Northwest until Wednesday.

  • AN EXTREME HEAT WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR THE LOWER COLUMBIA RIVER,  TUALATIN VALLEY, PORTLAND WEST HILLS AND CHEHAEM MOUNTAIN, INNER PORTLAND METRO, THE EAST PORTLAND METRO, OUTER SOUTHEAST PORTLAND METRO, WEST CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY, EAST CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY, AND THE WEST COLUMBIA GORGE I-84 CORRIDOR.

HEALTH ADVISORIES:

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

Willamette Pass Ski: IT’S NOT OFFICIAL, BUT DUE TO THE LATENESS OF THE SEASON AND THE MILD WEATHER TREND THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO CHANCE OF GETTING ENOUGH SNOWFALL TO ALLOW OPENING FOR SKIING. CONSIDER IT CLOSED FOR THE SEASON.
