Sorry, but no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is syzygy? Here is the answer. Syzygy occurs twice a month when the sun and moon are lined up, either with the new or full moon. In both cases, the gravitational effects of these astronomical bodies reinforce each other and the range between high and low tides increases. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you next week. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Upper level low pressure (“U” shape offshore) is sliding slowly across Oregon. A frontal system has brought better chances for rain through today. Looks like the wettest day of the Memorial Day Holiday weekend will be today with lesser chances Sunday (because of weak high pressure) and at least part of Monday. There will still be sun breaks on the rainy days. A new frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest Monday increasing the precipitation chances once again and the wet weather will continue through most of next week.
