We have a winner!

Congratulations to  ”Blaze” for being the first to post the correct answer to this week’s  weather quiz question. What is a growler?  The answer posted “A growler is a iceberg that is almost completely submerged” is correct. The growler is one of the many names of sea ice. It refers to a patch of floating ice, often originating from an iceberg, that floats low in the water and sometimes appears greenish in color. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Today, June 1st, is the official beginning of the Atlantic-Caribbean tropical storm season For updates on where tropical storms or hurricanes are headed just go to The National Weather Service Hurricane Center website.

_______________

Upper level low pressure (“U” shape offshore) is sliding slowly into Oregon keeping the flow of moisture aimed at us.  A frontal system has moved through the Pacific Northwest bringing with it more rain and possible thunderstorms. A new frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest this week (position shown is Friday) increasing the precipitation chances once again and the wet weather will continue through most of the week. There will still be some sun breaks even on the rainy days ahead. Still cooler than normal, but there is hope in the computer models that we’ll dry out, warm up,  and see increased sunshine over the weekend. It’s still too early to be certain of that yet.
