Sorry but we didn’t get a winner this week. Nobody posted the correct answer.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the “Pigpen effect?”  Never heard of it? The “Pigpen effect” is named for the character in the “Peanuts” comic strip and cartoons. The character was always dirty and had a cloud of dust around him. Researchers have shown that people actually stir up their own personal clouds of dust and particles wherever they go as they shuffle across carpets, plop down onto overstuffed chairs, and bounce into their beds. Charles Schultz, who created the comic strip, would be proud to know one of his characters has made it into the world of science. I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question starting next Monday. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

_______________

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) is moving toward the Pacific Northwest and a trough of low pressure (“U” shape) will move in behind it. The skies will brighten and warm the temperatures for the weekend. Another cold front or two move into the Pacific Northwest early next week returning the clouds, cooler temperatures, and the chance of precipitation.
