We have a winner! Congratulations to Karl Bonner who was  the first person to post the correct answer.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “fulgerite?” Here is Karl’s correct answer. “Fulgerite is a form of glass created when hot lightning (1800 degrees C or hotter) hits sand; the grains of quartz melt together and cool into a tube-shaped piece of fulgerite.” A record-large piece of fulgerite was found some years ago in Michigan that measured 15 feet in length and had a white-green-gray color. All Karl has to do is mail m at the address listed in my contacts section an we can discuss how h will us his week of personalized forecasts. I’ll have another weekly weather question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low (“U” shape) is sitting over us sending some moisture our way. That’s the bad news. The good news is that a high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) will move in bringing us sunshine and much warmer temperatures for the long holiday weekend.
