Here is my weekly weather quiz question. Who worked on mathematical models for weather prediction providing the basis for the first successful numerical (computer) forecasting models? He is also credited with predicting the existence of jet streams and developing the main theories describing their behavior. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

An upper level trough of low pressure (“U” shape) is moving across Oregon. Behind it will be a high pressure ridge that should dry us out for a while at least. A new frontal system aims at the Pacific Northwest on Saturday moving in by Sunday. Will it bring just clouds or will we get even more showers? It looks like the precipitation will stay in Northern Oregon into Washington.
