Here is my weekly weather quiz question and this is your last chance to win this week. In meteorology what does the term “diamond dust” refer to? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

An upper level trough of low pressure (“U” shape on orange line) is setting up over the Pacific Ocean bringing more clouds and some cooling early next week, but for now short lived high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on orange line) will keep us dry. The Perseid meteor shower peaks through Saturday, but the nearly full moon will probably spoil the show. You might want to give it a try anyway late tonight and Saturday night. Just make sure you are away from the city lights. A frontal system will approach the coast Sunday and move in Monday bringing the small chance of showers late Sunday night through Monday night. The weather will continue to be perfect for the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City and for the beginning of the Lane County Fair that starts next Wednesday.
