_______________
Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. You have a basement, and your friend says to go to the southwest corner if a tornado is approaching. Is that a good thing to do and why or why not? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR THE NORTH AND CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES AND FOOTHILLS. THAT MEANS THERE IS A HIGH FIRE DANGER FOR THE AREAS LISTED.

We will be staying under a strengthening blocking high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape covering the Pacific Northwest) for the week assuring that we will stay from very warm to hot. It looks like a frontal system will move down from the northwest on Tuesday and that could break the back of this heat wave as long as the ridge weakens or moves to the East.
