Congratulations to Michael Moore for being the first person to post the correct answer to this week’s quiz. Here is the question again.  Skylab was the first space laboratory the United States sent into orbit. Due to engine failure it fell out of orbit and broke up on its way back to the surface. There was a plan to save Skylab by taking a rocket pack up to boost the orbit. That plan failed. What was the plan and why didn’t that engine make it into space to save Skylab? here is Michael’s answer. “The station was no longer on the orbital freeway. The shuttle was just about to become a big thing and the station was not convenient to slight operations for the shuttle (based on its orbit). The shuttle program was the future, so the funds for getting a rocket up there took a back seat in the budget. Now they’ve both gotten away from us.” And here is my response. Michael, Your answer is so close that I’ll have to give you the win. There was a plan to get an engine up to Skylab but it was too costly. The decision was made to us the first shuttle mission to take the engine up and attach it. The big problem turned out to be delays in getting the shuttle ready. Time ran out, Skylab’s orbit decayed, and it plummeted back to earth. As the first person to post the correct answer just go to the contact section of this site and email me when you are ready to decide when to use your week of forecasts. Congratulations. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

The jet stream has settled down and will keep our weather pretty stable for most of the week as a high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape) builds in. A frontal system is falling apart as it comes through just like the one Saturday giving us the Autumn weather for one more day anyway. That will change back Tuesday and continue through Friday when the Autumnal Equinox occurs at 2:05 AM PDT we will still have pleasant sunshine and comfortable temperatures.
