It’s Monday and you know what that means. Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. On August 25, 1814 our nation’s capital was in the possession of the British Army. Many public buildings were in flames by the hands of the invading army, but something else caused major structural damage to the residential section of the city. More British soldiers were killed and injured by this event than by the American forces. What happened?  Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: A HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM TODAY FOR THE NORTH AND CENTRAL OREGON COAST NEAR THE BEACHES AND HEADLANDS. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM UNTIL 5 PM TUESDAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTH OREGON COAST.

________________

An upper level trough of low pressure has moved in along the coast bringing the chance of rain with it. A cold front pushed through Oregon Sunday and another frontal system is moving through today. It looks like most of the precipitation will be concentrated to our North. A break and yet another frontal system will come in later in the week to increase the chances of precipitation again. There are a lot of dry lawns, grasslands, and forests that greatly appreciate the rainy season getting under way.
