Time for my weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. This time we’ll have a weather and the movies question. In the famous 1952 Gene Kelly movie “Singin’ in the Rain” the rain that fell wasn’t just water because the water didn’t show up well enough on film. What was added to the falling water to make it look more like rain? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

A weak high pressure ridge (“arch” forming on the orange jet stream line) will build up just long enough to give us a series of dry days. Too bad it didn’t do that today like I expected. The high pressure at the surface will combine with the upper air ridge to start to clear us out for some sunshine, really. It looks like that will finally happen on Saturday just in time for the college football games. The question is when will it fade? Another upper level low (“U” shape on jet stream line) will set up off the coast to bring possibly bring back the rain by early next week.
