Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. It’s a weather and the movies question. In the famous 1952 Gene Kelly movie “Singin’ in the Rain” the rain that fell wasn’t just water because the water didn’t show up well enough on film. What was added to the falling water to make it look more like rain? Believe it or not they added milk to the water so that the drops would show up better on film. It looked more like real rain, but I wonder did it start to smell bad by the time they finished shooting? I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Your Saturday College football forecasts:
The Beavers vs BYU at Reser Stadium – Kickoff: 1:00 PM A mix of clouds and sun this afternoon (more clouds than sun to start then more sun than clouds), near 60 warming to near 64 by the end of the game.
The Ducks vs. Arizona State at Autzen Stadium – Kickoff: 7:15 PM partly to mostly cloudy this evening, near 58 falling through the low 50s as the game ends. It will get a bit chilly so wear the proper clothing if you’re going to the game.

A weak high pressure ridge (“arch” forming on the orange jet stream line) will build up and as it pushes to the North a bit just long enough to give us some dry days. High pressure at the surface will combine with the upper air ridge to clear us out for some sunshine, really. The question is when will it fade? Another upper level low (“U” shape on jet stream line) will set up off the coast and a frontal system will combine to possibly bring back the rain by the middle and end of next week.
