Here it is another Monday and that means it’s time for a new weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. What is lake-effect snow? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

The upper air flow (shaded area with blue arrows) will keep clouds and moisture over us through tonight and then migrate to the North a bit. A frontal system moved down with that airflow, but it is falling apart and has cleared out more quickly behind it. That means lots of sunshine for your Monday. The jet stream will move to the North allowing high pressure to take over and bring back the sun, for a while at least, starting Monday. That’s a day sooner than I originally expected. An upper air trough of low pressure will help usher in a frontal system late in the week that will return at least a slight chance of precipitation.
