This is your last chance this week to answer my weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. What is lake-effect snow? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories:  NONE AT THIS TIME.

The jet stream shows a trough of low pressure (“U” shape on yellow line) bringing clouds and rain back. A frontal system is moving in bringing the rain chance back, for a short time though. An area of high pressure (“Arch” shape on yellow line) will clear us out a bit Saturday afternoon, but a large upper level low (the next “U” shape on the yellow line) will take over along with a frontal system (position shown on Monday) on Sunday that will bring back more chances of rain to the Pacific Northwest. A REMINDER: We will go back to Standard time NEXT WEEKEND (officially at 2 AM Sunday November 6th).

It’s pretty obvious you’ll need the rain gear for the Friday night High School Football games tonight in Western Oregon. Just take a look at the current National Weather Service radar pictures.
