Give it a try. Today is your last chance this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question. About 7,700 years ago Oregon’s 12,000 ft. tall Mt. Mazama erupted and its caldera collapsed. The caldera filled with water to become the second deepest (1,958 ft.) lake in North America. How long did it take to fill the caldera and form what we know as Crater Lake? I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories:  NONE AT THIS TIME.

For the rest of the week into the weekend another upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape on yellow line) will be offshore pumping moisture our way. A frontal system will move in Saturday, then a series of frontal systems like this one will keep the chance of precipitation around. Mountain snow levels will fall well below pass levels making for possibly slippery roadways by Friday. A REMINDER: We will go back to Standard time THIS WEEKEND (Fall back one hour officially at 2 AM Sunday).

You probably should wear the rain gear for tonight’s high school football games. There is a 20%-30% chance of showers and it will be a bit chilly.
