It’s time for a new weekly weather quiz question. The Hurricane season officially ends Wednesday so I thought one more hurricane question was in order. Here it is. Only two Category 5 hurricanes with winds over 155 mph hit the USA between 1900 and 1996. What were their names? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the jet stream) is moving away from us and the airflow behind it is feeding moisture our way. A frontal system pushed through the Pacific Northwest bringing back the rain, now a break as high pressure takes over again for your Monday. Upper air low pressure (“U” shape on the jet stream) will move eastward returning the moisture flow for just a chance of precipitation Tuesday night and Wednesday, then it’s back to high pressure and partly cloudy skies.
