It’s time for my weekly weather quiz question. The Hurricane season officially ends Wednesday so I thought one more hurricane question was in order. Here it is. Only two Category 5 hurricanes with winds over 155 mph hit the USA between 1900 and 1996. What were their names? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the jet stream) is moving away from us and the airflow behind it is feeding moisture our way. Upper air low pressure (“U” shape on the jet stream) will move eastward sending a cold front through Oregon returning the moisture flow for a chance of precipitation tonight and Wednesday, then it’s back to high pressure and partly cloudy skies.
