Sorry, but no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. The Hurricane season officially just ended Wednesday so I thought one more hurricane question was in order. Here it is. Only two Category 5 hurricanes with winds over 155 mph hit the USA between 1900 and 1996. What were their names? Here is the answer. Hurricane Camille struck in 1969 attacking the Gulf Coast causing 256 deaths and an unnamed (before the World Meteorological Association started naming Tropical Storms) hurricane struck the Florida Keys 1n 1935 causing 408 deaths.I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the jet stream) is planted offshore and the airflow will keep us in the sunshine, as long as the fog clears. So, for the better part of the next 7 days we’ll see sunshine after the late night and early AM fog and freezing fog clear out. That also means that our air quality will suffer with the sinking air of high pressure holding on to the pollutants at the surface.
