A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the jet stream) has been keeping us cold. That also means that our air quality has been suffering with the sinking air of high pressure holding on to the pollutants at the surface. The ridge is slidding over to be replaced by a low pressure trough (“U” shape on the jet stream) allowing more clouds, warmer temperatures, and maybe even a chance of precipitation returning over the weekend. The full ” Cold” moon will occur Saturday at 6:36 AM and there will be a total eclipse of the moon starting just before dawn, 4:45 AM to 8:18 AM, but the clouds or fog will probably cover the sky even. You might want to give it a try anyway, but make sure you dress warm. And yes, you can look directly at a lunar eclipse because it is only reflected light from the sun.
