Sorry, no winner in this week’s weather quiz. Here is the question again. Wind does actually “whistle through the wires.” What is the name given to the distinct musical or humming sounds made by the wind?   The sounds are called “aeolian sounds” and are caused by strong winds flowing past roughly circular objects such as wires and tree branches producing eddies in the air flow. These can often be heard as distinct musical or humming sounds.  I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you Monday. Remember the first person to post the correct answer will win one week of personalized forecasts tailored to your needs. Give it a try!

_______________

The “El Nino” weather pattern will continue to control our weather keeping us above normal for temperatures and below normal for precipitation. An upper level trough of low pressure (see blue arrows over the Pacific Northwest forming the letter “U”) is sending a new storm system that is still offshore it’s way to us for Saturday. That storm will split into two sections. One will move into California and the other will move northward into our area. Sunday will be drier, but a new series of frontal systems will move in next week.
