Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. A couple of you posted good answers, but not the correct answer. We have had rain and snow but let’s focus on total precipitation which includes rain and melted snow or other frozen precipitation. What US city has the highest normal annual precipitation in inches? Extra credit if you get the right total too. Yukutat, Alaska has the highest normal annual precipitation in the US with 134.96 in. and Hilo, Hawaii comes in second with 128.15 in. according to USA Today’s “The Weather Book.” I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low pressure trough (“U” shape on yellow line) will be moving closer to us then moving through. A frontal system pushed through Oregon  to make sure we stay very wet over the weekend into next week when more frontal systems will roll through the Pacific Northwest. Heavy snowfalls from the latest storm have renewed hope that the ski season is back and here to stay. Mt. Ashland is open. Hoodoo is open (as usual closed Wednesdays). Willamette Pass is open today and Sunday. Please check the ski resort web sites for the latest details and updates as the new storms could improve the snowpack for skiing.
